Side and Rear Extensions for Detached Period House, High Barnet
A residential project located in a non-conservation area in High Barnet. A detached period dwelling with dated interior and lack of light required renovation and a contemporary design solution to enhance the quality of life and to respond to growing family demands. The design incorporated single-storey side and rear extensions to accommodate a new utility room, kitchen and dining area. The north-facing rear side of the property suffered considerably from daylight deficit and dismal look. Our challenge was to bring more light inside the property and to avoid the resemblance of a greenhouse design. The desired results were achieved with the help of a long span architectural ridge roof-light and slim profile corner sliding doors opening a panoramic view into the back garden.
